Overheard at camp: "Boo." Don't worry it wasn't for a player. With Dan Bailey's 39-yard field goal attempt straight as an arrow and heading near the camera on the top of the scissor lift in the end zone, the cameraman attempted to catch the kick. Unable to come up with it – hey, it's windy up there – the fans gave a quick boo and even the cameraman showed a level of disgust. It's the first day. He'll get another chance.

Rookie report at camp: First-round pick Taco Charlton worked with the first team at left defensive end with Tyrone Crawford getting a day of rest. In one-on-one pass rush drills, Charlton tried to work his power against right tackle La'el Collins but ran into a wall and fell to the ground, prompting Collins to finish the play with some aggression. In the individual compete period, however, Charlton showed he was a fast learner and was able to get to the edge on Collins to give the defense a win.

Best play at camp: Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, the Cowboys' second-round pick, made a quick first impression. On the first play of one-on-one drills against wide receiver Brice Butler, he jammed the veteran receiver to make it difficult to get off the line, swatted Dak Prescott's pass up in the air, turned and was able to tip the pass to himself for an interception. On his next rep, however, he was beaten to the inside by wide receiver Lance Lenoir.

Cowboys defensive tackle Maliek Collins was limited in practice with a hip flexor but Stephen Jones said the team doesn't believe it is anything major. Defensive end Charles Tapper was not able to do everything because of cramps.

Cowboys' first padded practice comes to an end with first round pick Taco Charlton upset with undrafted tackle Dan Skipper. It looked like Skipper stepped on Charlton after the play. Teammates had to step in.
