FORT WORTH, Texas -- Jordan Spieth, a 19-year-old with three top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour, and Web.com Tour player Franklin Corpening have been selected by former Colonial champions for spots in the invitational tournament next month.
The Colonial tradition is for former champions to select as sponsor exemptions two promising pros who have never before been eligible for the event.
The 28-year-old Corpening grew up at Colonial Country Club, attended Paschal High School and played at TCU from 2004-2008.
Spieth has earned $662,398 in seven PGA Tour events this season, including a tie for second at the Puerto Rico Open. He turned pro after helping lead Texas to an NCAA championship in his only season there, and was the low amateur in last year's U.S. Open.
