Cruz's hamstring acts up again

BOSTON -- Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz left Wednesday's 8-7 12-inning loss to the Boston Red Sox in the 11th with fatigue in his right hamstring. David Murphy took his place in right field.

The issue comes one day after Cruz was pulled late in Tuesday's game with a cramp in the hamstring.

He started Wednesday's game and was 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout.

Cruz is hitting .308 on the season with seven homers and 16 RBIs.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said he noticed Cruz didn't look quite right as he jogged to the dugout after playing right field in the 10th inning. So Washington decided to pull him. He said he does not expect to play Cruz on Thursday.

"I think he just needs a day," Washington said.
