CHICAGO -- The Texas Rangers placed left-handed starter Derek Holland on the 15-day disabled list with mild inflammation in his left rotator cuff and recalled right-hander Pedro Strop from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Holland left after only two innings in his start against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday and was examined by Dr. Keith Meister on Monday.
In four starts and one relief appearance this season Holland is 2-1 with a 4.19 ERA since being called up on May 12.
Strop, who will be used out of the bullpen, spent one day with the Rangers this season without making an appearance. He was 0-1 with five saves and 1.74 ERA for Oklahoma in 17 relief appearances.
