Nelson Cruz has sore Achilles

Texas Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz left Saturday's 5-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants with a sore right Achilles' tendon.

Cruz exited the game in the eighth inning. David Murphy replaced him in right field.

After the game, Rangers manager Ron Washington told ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM that taking Cruz out was a precautionary move.

"He had some soreness in his Achilles, and I wasn't taking a chance," Washington said.

Cruz was 0 for 3 with a strikeout before being lifted.
