The Mavs aren't certain when guard Rodrigue Beaubois will be ready to make his season debut after recovering from an August surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot.
Chandler practiced Monday for the first time since injuring his thumb in a preseason loss to the Orlando Magic last week. Barring a setback Tuesday, he'll be in the rotation for the season opener, although it isn't clear whether he'll start or come off the bench behind Brendan Haywood.
"I was able to do everything and felt good out there," said Chandler, who was traded from Charlotte to Dallas this offseason. "Initially going out there, I felt a little skeptical about catching the ball and stuff, but it went well. I felt good today in practice. I'm ready to go."
Beaubois remains in a protective boot. He briefly removed the boot and did light conditioning and basketball drills, but hope that he'd be ready for the season opener ended when he experienced soreness two and a half weeks ago.
The Mavs do not have a timetable for Beaubois' return.
"We're going to take that really slow," president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "We want to make sure that he's 100 percent. We're not putting any timetable on that. When he's right, he'll be out there."
