Cowboys round out coaching staff

The Dallas Cowboys have hired Bob King as a defensive assistant to replace Dat Nguyen, who left the organization earlier this month.

King was a defensive line coach at West Texas A&M for two seasons. Prior to that, he was a defensive line coach at Baylor, working with the tackles in 2006-07.

After West Texas A&M's coaching staff visited with the Cowboys last summer and checked out their defensive scheme, the school implemented some of the concepts for the 2009 season.

"I think he'll be awesome down there," West Texas A&M coach Don Carthel said. "He knows the system and some of those players know him. He'll get the respect from the players in a hurry because they know what he's talking about. It's a great hire."

The Cowboys have now completed their coaching staff. Four coaches had expiring contracts, and Todd Grantham and Nguyen chose to go elsewhere. Grantham became the defensive coordinator at Georgia, while Nguyen left the Cowboys without a job in hand.

But Texas A&M announced last weekend that Nguyen, a former Cowboys linebacker, was hired as its linebackers coach.
