DALLAS -- The Dallas Cowboys signed restricted free agent offensive lineman Cory Procter to a one-year deal Friday.
Procter, a backup center who can also play guard, was one of 12 players the Cowboys offered tender contracts to this offseason. He signed his second-round tender worth $1.809 million.
Procter, who was signed by the Cowboys off the Detroit Lions' practice squad in 2005, played in 12 games last season and started 11 games in 2008 when Kyle Kosier was injured.
He also is a member of the heavy metal band Free Reign, which includes Cowboys teammates Marc Colombo and Leonard Davis.
Calvin Watkins covers the Cowboys for ESPN Dallas. You can follow him on Twitter or leave a question for his weekly mailbag.
