Stars assign Fortunus, Peters to AHL

The return of defenseman Nicklas Grossman remains doubtful, meaning Jeff Woywitka could see playing time Saturday for the Dallas Stars.

Grossman, who turns 25 next week, was to return to the Stars' lineup for Saturday's game with the Detroit Red Wings after missing four games with a lower body injury. He has four points -- all assists -- and is plus-5. Should he return, Grossman, who skated Friday, would probably rejoin Stephane Robidas on the top blue line pair.

Earlier Friday, the team assigned defenseman Maxime Fortunus and center Warren Peters to the AHL Texas Stars.

Fortunus, 26, is scoreless in eight games with the Stars this season after making his NHL debut Dec. 19. He has six goals and five assists in 34 games for the Texas Stars this season.

The return of Fabian Brunnstrom means Peters, 27, can head back to the Texas Stars. He played in four games with Dallas and had a goal. He has 18 points in 32 games for the Texas Stars this season.
