Here are my top five players to watch.

March 15, 2006

In the NCAA tournament, there are so many great players on the court. Here is a look at five of the most exciting players competing in the tournament:

Ronnie Brewer, Arkansas
He enjoyed a super season, and he can really do it on both ends of the court. Coach Stan Heath has gotten a lot out of his multitalented star. It will be interesting to see whether Brewer hooks up with Memphis in the second round.

Rudy Gay, Connecticut
He is a baseline beauty. I love the way Gay runs in transition, converting with easy baskets and dunks. He is one reason I am picking Connecticut to cut down the nets in Indianapolis.

Brandon Roy, Washington
Out on the West Coast, Roy has had a great season. He can score on the baseline or step outside, and his quickness makes him a threat. It will be interesting to see whether a second-round matchup against Illinois and Dee Brown materializes.

Shannon Brown, Michigan State
The guard is a high-wire act, capable of electrifying the crowd with a slam-bam-jam. Tom Izzo's team usually plays its best come tournament time, and the coach will call for good things from Brown.

Rodney Carney, Memphis
Arguably the most electrifying athlete in this tournament. His dunks can motivate Memphis, and his ability to convert in transition will be a plus for the No. 1 seed Tigers.
