Lavin stays with ESPN/ABC

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

April 26, 2006

Forget about all the rumors down in Raleigh, baby. NC State's search will continue as former UCLA head basketball coach Steve Lavin will continue to work for ESPN/ABC as a college basketball game and studio analyst.

Lavin had extensive negotiations with North Carolina State athletic director Lee Fowler over the past week regarding the Wolfpack men's basketball coaching position. Lavin also had discussions with ESPN executives related to his future broadcasting career before opting to stay with ESPN/ABC.

Lavin, who was the head coach at UCLA from 1996-2003, just completed his third year with ESPN/ABC.

Dick Vitale coached the Pistons and the University of Detroit before broadcasting ESPN's first college basketball game in 1979. Send a question for Vitale for possible use on ESPNEWS.
