Who is the best team in the ACC?

Victor P. Conway NC
I would like know who you think is the best team in the ACC, And Who will win the ACC?

VITALE: I feel Duke is the team to beat. I picked the Blue Devils to win the national championship. Mike Krzyzewski has J. J. Redick and Shelden Williams returning, plus a great incoming class led by Josh McRoberts and Greg Paulus. Boston College, Wake Forest and Maryland will be the top challengers for Duke in the conference.

Matt (Buffalo, NY)
With Warrick gone, do you think the Orange have a legit shot at winning another championship?

VITALE: You can't put anything past Jimmy Boeheim and that 2-3 zone. He knows how to win and the arrival of Eric Devendorf gives the Orange a diaper dandy who will get better and better. Gerry McNamara is a great perimeter shooter. Guys like Terrence Roberts, Louie McCroskey, Darryl Watkins and Demetris Nichols have to step it up, grow up and be active. Syracuse should still be one of the upper echelon teams in the Big East.

Patrick B. (Eugene, OR)
What are Stanford's Chances? Can they hold their own against UCLA and Zona? Tournament?

VITALE: Stanford got better and better last year, and the Cardinal will be improved this season. Any time you start with a point guard the caliber of Chris Hernandez, who is my Pac-10 Preseason Player of the Year, you have something to build on. Stanford will be in the first division of the conference, competing with Arizona and UCLA. Hernandez is so underrated nationally.

Tyler (mystic)
Will the Terps freshmen make an impact on a title run?

VITALE: The main thing to talk about when discussing Maryland is chemistry. For some reason, the Terps did not have it last year. John Gilchrist was thinking NBA instead of ACC and that created a problem for the club. Gilchrist is gone now and this group will be hungry. There will be a few newcomers that contribute, but the veteran corps will be the key. The return of DJ Strawberry from injuries will be a big plus. Nik Caner-Medley and Travis Garrison up front must perform to expectations. Gary Williams' club will be among the upper echelon of the ACC.

Omari (Oakland, CA)
Coach, how do you see the development of all the great, young talent at Kansas this year?

VITALE: The excitement level is going to be high. The expectations of recent years with Wayne Simien, Aaron Miles and Keith Langford won't be the same. There are a number of good young players, including Julian Wright and Mario Chalmers to name a couple. Russell Robinson, CJ Giles and the returning youngsters will get more of a chance to shine. The combination of the young players will give the fans a lot to cheer about in Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk country. It has been a long summer after losing to Bucknell in the first round of the NCAA. A lot of people in Lawrence have had a tough time getting over that.
