North Carolina, Texas Tech eye NCAA bids

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Feb. 13
North Carolina got a big W over Virginia on Wednesday night. Freshman Rashad McCants regained his confidence and played well, especially in the first half when the Tar Heels raced to a big lead. McCants and Raymond Felton each finished with 21 points.

Coach Matt Doherty's team is capable of making a run and being a factor in the race for an NCAA Tournament bid.

Another team with an impressive win on Wednesday was Texas Tech. The General, Robert Montgomery Knight, saw his squad take charge in the second half at Iowa State. Ames is not an easy place to play, and any road win at this time of the season is important.

Andre Emmett hit 11-of-12 shots and finished with 25 points. He was coming off a career-high 34-point performance against Missouri.
