Tennessee man wins Dickie V Contest

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

July 18, 2005
John Uthlaut from Lookout Mountain, Tenn., is the winner of the fifth annual Meet Dickie V Contest. Uthlaut was the lucky victor from the contest that posted college basketball trivia questions each day for four weeks on www.dickvitaleonline.com and ESPN.com.

In order to be entered into the contest, competitors had to answer all five questions for the week, and then they were entered into the drawing for the grand prize.

Uthlaut will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Sarasota, Fla., including two nights at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Sarasota. He and a guest will enjoy dinner at St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota and attend a major-league baseball game with me and my wife Lorraine at Tropicana Stadium in St. Petersburg, Fla. Uthlaut will see the Tampa Bay Devil Rays host the New York Yankees. He will also receive special memorabilia (autographed by me), and he will visit my home.

I sponsor the contest because I want to do something special to thank fans for their generosity and support throughout the college basketball season. I enjoy meeting fellow basketball "junkies" and look forward to meeting the contest winners each year. It has been a lot of fun for my wife and I every year.

The past winners of the "Meet Dickie V Contest" are:
2001: Ted Radcliffe
2002: David Sapp
2003: Michael Witthoft
2004: Ed Schoewe
2005: John Uthlaut
