With Sam Vincent installed as his new coach and Bernie Bickerstaff moving to an advisory role as an executive vice president, Bobcats Managing Member of Basketball Operations Michael Jordan acknowledged Friday that he's looking for a new GM.

The leading (and only) candidate at present, I'm told, is Golden State's Rod Higgins.

Jordan has asked for and received permission from the Warriors to interview Higgins, according to NBA front-office sources.

Barring an unexpected snag, MJ is expected to formally hire Higgins soon as well, which shouldn't be too surprising given that Higgins served as an assistant GM to Jordan and Wes Unseld in Washington for two-plus seasons.

Higgins has since been working as the top front-office aide to Chris Mullin in Golden State. Like Vincent, he's a former Jordan teammate.
