Pitt reaches Sweet 16

March, 22, 2009
DAYTON, Ohio -- Pittsburgh has been far from dominant in its first two NCAA tournament games, but the Panthers are going to the Sweet 16 nonetheless.

They got pushed hard Sunday by Oklahoma State and actually trailed 72-70 with 3:48 left. But Sam Young, Levance Fields and DeJuan Blair all made huge plays down the stretch as Pitt won 84-76.

Young finished with 32 points, while Blair shook off an invisible first half to post a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Fields had 13 points and nine assists.

The first three No. 1 seeds made it safely to the second weekend. Louisville will try to make it 4-for-4 shortly when it takes on Siena here.
