Safford got great position on Hasheem Thabeet for a defensive rebound and as the two tangled for the ball, Thabeet was whistled for his third foul. Thabeet went to the bench and that fueled Missouri on the other end. Safford scored down low on an and-one play. Though he missed the free throw, he helped keep the rebound alive and when Leo Lyons missed, Keith Ramsey tipped it in to make it 49-48, Connecticut.
UConn tossed the ball away on its next possession and Ramsey scored again on the other end for the Mizzou lead.
Ramsey has given the Tigers an incredible boost off the bench. He's scoring fearlessly inside and playing terrific defense, really giving Missouri an inside presence. The junior just scored on a sweet inbounds play, rolling off a screen to the hoop for an uncontested jam.
