Super-duper seven

A lot of people come up to me at the Broken Egg in Lakewood Ranch, Florida and talk college hoops. I love this time of season as there are so many close games, contests that have added meaning as league play helps determine ranking in conference tournaments. It also helps in seeding for the big dance.

Recently, I had a fan debate with me over the top players in college hoops this season.

I came up with my top players so far this season, the impact performers in the sport with a month to go in the regular season. This is not based on future pro potential, but on what has happened so far in 2012-13.

It has been a wacky season and I know that people can argue about this list. That is half the fun of sports, arguing about the best of the best!

Here are my super seven:

1. Trey Burke, Michigan

2. Doug McDermott, Creighton

3. Ben McLemore, Kansas

4. Mason Plumlee, Duke

5. Victor Oladipo, Indiana

6. Deshaun Thomas, Ohio State

7. Cody Zeller, Indiana
