Burke, Larranaga lead awards

It is time to unveil my All-Solid Gold teams for the 2012-13 season.

My first team has quickness -- it is a squad like North Carolina's right now. With that unit, I would run and press. These guys stepped above the rest on a consistent basis. They had a great impact on their respective teams.

Here you have it, my top PTPers of this season.

Dick Vitale's All-Solid Gold Team for 2012-13

Now for the other major awards.

Player of the Year
This choice was wide open. Oladipo, Burke, McDermott and Porter are all viable candidates. I am going with Burke as my choice. I look back at the steals late against Michigan State that sealed the deal. He came through with so many big plays and shot so well. He made his teammates better.

Coach of the Year
My choice is Miami's Jim Larranaga. The Hurricanes were picked fifth in the ACC preseason poll and ended up winning the league. There were so many good candidates this season, but Larranaga gets the edge.

Diaper Dandy of the Year
I am taking Ben McLemore over Marcus Smart. He had so many major performances for the Jayhawks that he gets the nod.

Defensive Player of the Year
My Defensive Player of the Year is Ohio State's Aaron Craft, the best on-ball defender in the game.

Best Conference
My choice for best conference was the easiest one of this group. The Big Ten has been incredible all season long.

Best Game
The best game of the season was the five-overtime thriller on Feb. 9 in South Bend. Notre Dame got past Louisville, 104-101.

Best Upset
The shock city game of the season was TCU, winless in the Big 12, beating conference leader Kansas 62-55 on Feb 6.
