Build a Skateboard

By Ted Bishop

Is your son or daughter showing an interest in skateboarding? I highly recommend a trip to your local skate shop, where you can gather the parts and build a board together at home. If that's too daunting, however, the folks at CCS make it easy for you with their Skateboard Builder packages. With pads factored in, you could pay slightly north of $100. But unlike team sports with pricey registration fees and over-the-top coaching, skateparks are free, and you learn by trial and error. And it's a great confidence builder for kids. Don't skimp on the pads (they are a must for beginners) or be fooled into buying a cheaper board at the big box toy stores.
