It's not how you start, it's how you finish. And for a fan who registered himself as Bigsam1122, the finish could be worth $1 million if he can make one more correct selection in ESPN's Streak for the Cash game.
After losing his first five selections in the contest, Bigsam1122 had racked up 23 wins without a defeat before taking a five-day break from picking games.
Sunday, after locking in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a Matt Bryant field goal with 1:55 remaining gave the Bucs a 23-20 victory over the Saints and made Bigsam112 the third contestant to get a streak of 24.
He has not made a pick for what could be his 25th straight win.
The latest 24-pick streak began with a Tampa Bay Rays victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series. Since then, Bigsam112's wins have come exclusively on college football, NFL and NBA action.
Earlier in the contest, Jordan Fulkerson of Louisville, Ky., and Greg Reynolds of Chico, Calif., came up short in their respective bids for a 25-pick streak and the $1 million grand prize. Reynolds' streak came to an end last Monday night when the Green Bay Packers lost to the New Orleans Saints.
Ironically, Bigsam1122 took the Saints, extending his streak to 23 in a row.
Fulkerson lost his streak on Nov. 22.
