New York Yankees' Nick Swisher was honored Thursday night in New York for his work supporting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease) research. Thursday's event was unique because it was run by high school students at Northport High School, N.Y. Each year they honor Heroes for Hope that give support and inspiration to the students. "My trainer and I were talking about how important it is to have a mentor, and watching these kids create this event when their two teachers and mentors were diagnosed with ALS is something that I am so happy to be a part of," Swisher said. "I flew here from California because it was so important to me to be here."
