How hard can it be to name a racehorse? One likely entrant in Saturday's running of the Kentucky Derby is Ice Box, winner of the Florida Derby. Ice Box actually has a chance to win the Kentucky Derby and have a shot at the Triple Crown.

Ice Box? Seriously?

Surely you can do better than that even if you don't own a 3-year-old thoroughbred. And we are giving you the chance to come up with a winning name. You can either post your name (or names if you feel really creative) at the bottom of this blog or you can send them directly to me at osogreene@aol.com. Please include your first name and last initial, plus your hometown.

The Jockey Club has numerous rules for the actual naming of thoroughbreds. We are sticking with just one of them -- the name cannot be longer than 18 spaces. If needed, you can run words together to make your name fit such as this early entry "Tebowleggeditout."

Yes, Tim Tebow and Ben Roethlisberger are the most popular subjects but it's all fair game. Here are a few more early entries: Who's On My Back, Just Say Knowshon -- and one that just missed -- Durantula.

They weren't among our winners but all are better than Ice Box.

Numerous winners will be posted here Thursday. Your chance for glory.
