UFC's Cain Velasquez talks bachelor's party, steak

Thu, Nov 11

UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is getting married May 28, 2011, to his longtime girl friend Michelle Borquez. No doubt, daughter Coral Love Velasquez, who will be 2 by then, will help as ring bearer.

But before then, he and five buddies will rent an RV in Arizona, where Velasquez lives, head to Texas over several days as their bachelor's party.

Sounds like the plot for "Hangover 2", right?

"We just want to take this road trip to relax. I love watching the Travel Channel, and it's something I've always wanted to do," said the soft-spoken Velasquez, who became champion in October when he pummeled Brock Lesnar for the title at UFC 121. "One of my buddies in that group is also getting married. So it might be the last time we all can be together like this."

And one of the stops will be the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, and all six friends will take part in the "Free 72 oz. Steak Challenge."

If anyone can finish the challenge -- which consists of the 72-ounce steak, baked potato, salad, shrimp cocktail and a roll -- under an hour, the $72 meal will be free. Nearly 50,000 people have taken the challenge, and only about 8,000 have succeeded.

"I know I can do it. Like in fighting, I have something to prove," Velasquez said. "But I know I can eat a lot. Normally at home, I finish my steak, eat the rest of my fiancee's steak and think about eating the two that are still left on the grill. I just can't stop eating."
