Page 2 needs to know what you're thankful for

Mon, Nov 22

This is the week we are all thankful -- unless you happen to be a Panther in Carolina or a turkey pretty much anywhere. As for the rest of us who love sports, it's all good.

But what's the best? That's the Top Ten list we want you to build this week -- "Top Ten Things To Be Thankful For In Sports." And if you want to be snide or sarcastic, that usually works around here even on Thanksgiving.

Let us know what in sports makes you most thankful -- or what you assume makes someone else thankful -- with a short reason why. As always, send your entries to me at including your first name, initial of your last name and your location. It's a short workweek so the deadline for entries is noon Tuesday with the list appearing here on Thanksgiving Thursday.

Yes, "cheap beer" is a valid entry if you know anywhere in sports where you can still get some. But you can do better than that.

If you are a sports fan (and if you're not, what are you doing here?) Thanksgiving is a terrific day for turkey and TV. The NFL now gives us three games (New England at Detroit, 12:30, CBS; New Orleans at Dallas, 4:15, FOX; and Cincinnati at the East Rutherford Jets, 8:20, NFL Network).

There's also a ton of basketball, much of it on the ESPNs, plus some college football. And if none of that works, there's the parades early and the National Dog Show late.

If you're in Turkey, there may or may not be roast turkey but there's Allen Iverson.

And, somewhere, there's probably even cheap beer.

All in all, you can argue that Thanksgiving is the best holiday for sports in the U.S.A. So what makes you thankful or what makes someone else thankful? Let me know at, so we can tell the world.
