Jeter hit .508 during his senior year at Kalamazoo Central High in Michigan, where he caught the eye of scout Dick Groch. "Five-tool player, blue-chipper, a Yankee," Groch wrote in his report, also noting that Jeter would "come into Yankee Stadium, compete at a championship level with high performance."
