Age 78, Triathlon
"I'm not going to sit around and watch TV all day long," says 78-year-old Earl Welliver, who after working as a security director for 35 years, now competes in seven track and field meets per year and has won nine Olympic-distance triathlons. Training six hours per day six days per week running, biking, swimming and teaching martial arts Welliver took an oath in high school that he remembers to this day.
"All my relatives died before 50, and here I am, almost 80," he says. "That's my incentive. Every day I work out is another day that I can add to the end of my life."
