Old dorms in a exterior concourse Tiger Stadium

Photograph By Emilio Collavino

Those windows on the exterior of Tiger Stadium are actually the vestiges of an old dormitory. Back in 1931, Louisiana Governor Huey Long hoped to add seats to the stadium, but the school had set aside funding for dorms. So Long pushed for dorms inside the stadium -- with expanded seating built on top of them -- which ended up housing students into the 1990s. Today, they are barren, with shattered glass and outdated air conditioning units casting a spooky pall on Death Valley.
