Ferguson, Duke, Luske Fall Short

Event 32 | Event 34

Sebastian Ruthenberg can claim the title of seven card stud World Champion, but his ascension to the top had some major barriers. Entering the final table of Event 33, a $5,000 tournament, Ruthenberg has the chip lead, but with names like Chris Ferguson, Annie Duke, Marcel Luske and Steve Sung not too far behind, the 24-year-old pro had to remain focused.

He did just that.

Although he became short stacked at one point, the German was relentless. He doubled up against Ferguson, who was the chip leader at the time, to come back in contention and then finally overtook the fan-favorite "Jesus" to win the bracelet and $328,756.

"He really is a better player than me," Ruthenberg spoke of Ferguson. "I have only been playing this game for six months and he has played so much more …"

Ferguson, who fell short of his sixth bracelet with this result, cashed for the 55th time at the WSOP, putting him third on the all-time list. He has five runner-up finishes and has earned over $3.3 million.

Luske, still looking for his first bracelet, finished in fourth place. He now has eight final-table appearances lifetime, two this year, and $1,166,947 in career earnings.

Other notable finishers include Annie Duke (fifth), Howard Lederer (ninth) and David Benyamine (10th).
