"First, I roll up to the wall at jogging speed while focusing on the corner of the ledge. I preload the bike to create energy by pushing the bike into the ground with my hands and feet. From there, I prepare to bunny-hop."
Before April 2009, few people had heard of street trials riding (think: parkour via mountain bike), and even fewer had heard of Danny MacAskill. But after his homemade debut video went viral, generating more than 34 million views, both MacAskill and his sport experienced a boon. The 28-year-old, known as Danny Megaskill to his peers, has since released three more vids (with a new one set to drop in May), worked as a Hollywood stunt man, scored six figures annually in sponsorships--and quit his job as a bike mechanic. Now he spends more time riding and less time answering the question "What is it you do exactly?" But how does he do it? Glad you asked ... --Alyssa Roenigk
