KLADNO, Czech Republic -- Ukraine's decathlete Oleksiy Kasyanov and heptathlete Hanna Melnychenko took the lead after the first day of the TNT Fortuna meeting on Tuesday.
After the first five disciplines, Kasyanov had 4,451 points. Jamie Adjetey-Nelson of Canada was second with 4,375, followed by Darius Draudvila of Lithuania with 4,232.
Olympic decathlon champion Bryan Clay of the United States has pulled out of the meet, an IAAF World Combined Events Challenge event, after picking up a groin injury in the opening discipline, the 100 meters.
Melnychenko gathered 3,666 points after the first four disciplines to lead Eliska Klucinova of the Czech Republic by 59 points.
The meet concludes Wednesday.
