EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Former NBA player Larry Drew was hired as an assistant coach by the New Jersey Nets on Monday.

Drew has been an assistant in the NBA for 10 seasons, the last three with the Washington Wizards. He played 10 seasons in the league with the Pistons, Kings, Lakers and Clippers. His most productive season was in 1982-83, when he averaged 20.1 points, 8.1 assists and 1.7 steals for the Kings in Kansas City.

Coach Byron Scott lost two assistants after Eddie Jordan was hired as head coach at Washington and selected Mike O'Koren as his assistant.
