Former Florida State QB rejected by TSU
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee State has decided not to allow former Florida State quarterback Adrian McPherson to join the Tigers, athletic director Teresa Phillips said Wednesday.
McPherson was sentenced to 30 months of probation in early July after he pleaded no contest to gambling and theft charges in Tallahassee, Fla. McPherson, who started four games for the Seminoles last season as a sophomore, had faced up to 20 years in jail on charges stemming from allegations he stole a blank check, filled it out and cashed it.
An earlier trial on misdemeanor charges of gambling, including bets on Florida State football games, ended in a hung jury.
Tennessee State received letters of release from both Florida State and Murray State, where McPherson briefly enrolled last winter.
