Jaguars activate Smith after suspension lifted
Smith had received a seven-day roster exemption on Monday when his suspension was lifted by the NFL. He is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.
Ross, 27, sprained an ankle on the opening kickoff of the season opener at Carolina and was inactive for the last three games. A native of Jacksonville, he played in 22 games since signing with the team in 2001.
"Micah is a good young player who we like, and we would not hesitate to bring him back if that opportunity presents itself," head coach Jack Del Rio said. "We simply can't carry seven wide receivers without leaving ourselves thin at other positions. We had to make room on the roster for Jimmy, and this was the logical move at this time."
The Jaguars also added running back LaBrandon Toefield to their injury report on Friday, listing the rookie back as questionable after he injured a shoulder in practice.
