Carroll, Mont. 35, Montana-Western 21

DILLON -- Top-ranked and defending NAIA champion Carroll College scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half to rally to a 35-21 victory over the University of Montana-Western.

D.J. Dearcorn rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 36 yards and another score to spark the rally for Carroll (7-0 overall, 5-0 Frontier), which extended its winning streak to 11 games.

Tyler Emmert completed 17 of 25 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns and also ran in the Saints' first score. Mark Gallik caught six passes for 156 yards and a another score.

Western (3-4, 2-2) took a 21-14 lead after 2-yard TD run by Josh Shrum with 10:21 left in the third quarter.

Carroll answered with three straight scores, a 1-yard run by Dearcorn and a 70-yard pass from Emmert to Gallik in the third quarter and a 20-yard pass from Emmert to Dearcorn with 13:32 left in the game.

Dearcorn's third-quarter TD was set up when Matt Thomas intercepted Western quarterback Travis Kirby, who completed 31 of 66 passes for 445 yards and a touchdown to Jake Larson that gave Western a 10-7 lead midway through the second quarter. Eric Zahler kicked two field goals for Western, pulling the Bulldogs within 14-13 with 58 seconds left in the half.
