ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Redskins running back Ladell Betts injured his left forearm against Buffalo on Sunday, and coach Steve Spurrier said a bone might be broken.

Spurrier said Betts was hurt when he was kicked in the arm while blocking during the first half of Washington's 24-7 loss.

Betts was making his first NFL start, replacing Trung Canidate, who sat out with a sprained right ankle. Betts had eight carries for 11 yards in the first half.

Return specialist Chad Morton took over at the start of the second half and got off to a solid start. Morton provided 23 yards rushing and 3 yards receiving in helping Washington score on its opening drive to cut Buffalo's lead to 10-7.

Rod Gardner capped the 76-yard drive with a 25-yard reception from Patrick Ramsey.
