Air Force taking time off during bye week

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Air Force will take a three-day break from practice this weekend before resuming preparations for No. 24 Utah after a bye week.

The Falcons (6-2, 3-1 MWC) will end a week of light practices on Thursday.

"Then Friday they're off. They can go do what they want to do. I hope they'll go be college kids," head coach Fisher DeBerry said Tuesday.

DeBerry hopes injured halfbacks Anthony Butler and Darnell Stephens will be ready when Utah (6-1, 3-0) travels to the academy on Nov. 1.

Butler missed Air Force's 30-20 loss at Colorado State on Thursday with a sprained right ankle. Stephens was knocked out of that game with a thigh bruise.

"They'll be ready to play whether they want to or not," DeBerry said.

Butler and Stephens have a combined 709 rushing yards and three touchdowns and keep opposing defenses from keying solely Air Force's leading rusher, quarterback Chance Harridge.
