DETROIT -- The Cleveland Indians have added five players to their roster, including 33-year-old catcher Kelly Shoppach.

Cleveland recalled right-hander Preston Guilmet, left-hander Nick Hagadone and right-hander Blake Wood from Triple-A Columbus and purchased the contract of infielder Jose Ramirez from Double-A Erie on Sunday.

The Indians also designated infielder Juan Diaz and outfielder Tim Fedroff for assignment.

Cleveland signed Shoppach to a minor league deal on Friday and assigned him to Columbus. He was released in June by the Seattle Mariners after hitting .196 with three homers and nine RBIs in 35 games.
