Nashiro defeats Castillo to earn WBA super flyweight title
HIGASHIOSAKA, Japan -- Nobuo Nashiro of Japan won the WBA super flyweight title Saturday, knocking out Martin Castillo of Mexico in the tenth round.
The bout was stopped when a cut above Castillo's left eye began to bleed badly, according to Kyodo news agency.
The undefeated Nashiro earned the super flyweight belt in just his eighth professional fight, and improved to 8-0 with five KOs. Castillo dropped to 30-2 (16 KOs).
"I've won. But I didn't score 100 points. I think I can be tougher," Nashiro said after the fight.
Castillo's loss came in his third title fight in Japan. He won his WBA title from Hideyasu Ishihara in 2004 and beat Ishihara again last year to defend it.
