KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Jamaican track coach Stephen Francis has been reprimanded over the positive drug test that resulted in a six-month ban for champion sprinter Shelly Ann Fraser.

The Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association says Francis apologized for what it called his "dereliction." The sports body said that besides the "strong reprimand," Francis was warned about stronger sanctions for any future violations.

A JAA statement did not specify Francis' role.

World and Olympic 100-meter champion Fraser was suspended for six months in October after a positive test for the drug oxycodone at the Diamond League meet May 23 in Shanghai.

She said she took a painkiller because of a toothache. Francis coaches a number of prominent sprinters including Asafa Powell.
