ARCADIA, Calif. -- Slim Shadey led all the way in winning the $150,000 John Henry Turf Championship by 2 1/4 lengths at Santa Anita on Sunday.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Slim Shadey ran 1 1/4 miles in 1:59.17 and paid $8.40, $3.80 and $3.40.
Turbo Compressor, trained by Todd Pletcher, returned $3 to place and show as the 3-2 favorite. Interaction was another 1½ lengths back in third and paid $4.80 to show.
Trainer Simon Callaghan said Slim Shadey's next start will be in the Breeders' Cup Turf on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita.
The victory, worth $90,000, increased the 4-year-old gelding's career earnings to $508,600.
