NEW YORK -- Munnings Sister edged heavily favored Silverette by a half-length on Sunday to win the $85,000 Gold Princess Stakes for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
Silverette, the 3-5 choice, set the pace with Munnings Sister following closely in second. Those two battled through the stretch with Munnings Sister, a 9-1 underdog, edging ahead for the win and paying $20.80, $6 and $3.70.
Cornelio Velasquez was aboard for trainer Barclay Tagg as the 4-year-old ran the six furlongs in 1:09.67 for her fifth win in 11 starts.
Silverette returned $2.40 and $2.10 while Expression paid $2.90.
