Toasting wins Belmont's Dream Rush Stakes

NEW YORK -- Toasting rallied to beat Merry Meadow by 21/4 lengths Sunday in the $100,000 Dream Rush Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.

Jose Ortiz was aboard for his third win of the day. Seventh for most of the race, Toasting launched a five-wide bid entering the stretch and surged to her third win in 12 starts.

A 10-1 outsider trained by Tom Albertrani, Toasting ran seven furlongs in 1:23.27 on the fast track and paid $23.40, $10 and $5.40 for her first stakes victory.

Merry Meadow returned $6.70 and $4 while Asiya paid $3.10 to show.
