Twins let Guerrier go, recall reliever Pressly
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins have designated right-hander Matt Guerrier for assignment and will recall right-hander Ryan Pressly from Triple-A Rochester to take his place in the bullpen.
The move was made Wednesday. The Twins have 10 days to trade or place Guerrier on unconditional waivers. If he clears waivers, Minnesota can release him.
Guerrier had a 3.86 ERA in 27 appearances, but he gave up four runs in the ninth inning Tuesday. The 35-year-old is third on the club's all-time relief innings list with 488.
Guerrier was one of three former Twins from playoff teams of the previous decade who returned this spring to make the opening day roster, but he was the third to go after Jason Bartlett and Jason Kubel.
Pressly will join the team Friday.
