Athletics release OF Alex Hassan

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics have released outfielder Alex Hassan.

The team announced the move Tuesday. Hassan had been designated for assignment last Friday.

Hassan was claimed off waivers from Texas on May 2. The Rangers had claimed him off waivers from Oakland on April 9.

Hassan went 1 for 14 in four games with Oakland's Triple-A team in Nashville. He hit .267 with eight RBIs in 16 games with Triple-A Round Rock in the Rangers' farm system.
