KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City designated hitter Mike
Sweeney left Saturday night's game with tightness in his left knee.
After drawing a walk with two outs, Sweeney tried to advance on
Mark Teahen's single, but could only make it to second base. He
flexed his knee and winced in pain. Sweeney was replaced by pinch
runner Esteban German, who later scored on Reggie Sanders' RBIs
Sweeney was activated Aug. 8 after spending the previous 98 days
(88 games) on the disabled list with a bulging disk in his back. He
has played in 122, 106 and 108 games in the last three full
seasons. He has been on the DL five times since the beginning of
the 2002 season.
