ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Devil Rays reinstated catcher Josh Paul from the 60-day disabled list Friday and designated catcher Raul Casanova for assignment.

Paul had been sidelined since May 20 because of a left elbow injury.

Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon said Paul will start Saturday's game against Boston. Paul was hitting .245 with five RBIs in 15 games when he was injured.

"We're going to get him involved often," Maddon said.

Tampa Bay starting catcher Dioner Navarro was hitting just .178 with two homers and 19 RBIs in 72 games through Thursday.

Casanova had a .250 batting average with six homers and 10 RBIs in 21 games, but struggled defensively.

A third catcher, Shawn Riggans, underwent season-ending surgery on his right elbow.
