DePaul extends women's coach Bruno's contract

CHICAGO -- DePaul has extended longtime women's basketball coach Doug Bruno's contract through the 2018-19 season.

Bruno's led the Blue Demons to 11 straight NCAA tournaments and 18 since 1990. He's 531-294 entering his 28th season at DePaul.

The extension was announced Friday.

Bruno played for Ray Meyer at DePaul and went on to coach the women's program for two seasons in the 1970s. He also coached the Chicago Hustle of the Women's Professional Basketball League and spent eight years as a men's assistant at Loyola of Chicago before returning to coach the DePaul women in 1988.
