Steady Wilson comes up big for Seahawks
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- As he basked in winning his first Super Bowl title, Russell Wilson thought back to all the times he was overlooked.
Whether it was when Wilson was coming out of high school, when he was told he didn't have a place anymore at North Carolina State or when he was entering the NFL and was deemed too short, all those times of being slighted came rushing back.
It made it that much sweeter for Wilson to play as well as he did in Seattle's 43-8 win over Denver on Sunday night. Wilson was the undercard all week to the attention being placed on Peyton Manning.
But Wilson was the one who came out ahead on Sunday. He threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns, ran for another 26 yards and did exactly what Pete Carroll wanted in leading Seattle to its first title.
