HOUSTON -- Houston Texans offensive lineman Chester Pitts was arraigned Monday on a felony charge of evading arrest in a motor vehicle.

Pitts was one of four peope pulled over last week in a traffic sting designed to crack down on illegal turns but drove away while an officer was writing a ticket for another driver, police said. Officers chased Pitts for less than a mile, where police said he stopped and was arrested.

Pitts on Friday called the incident a "misunderstanding," and Texans owner Bob McNair said Pitts believed officers in the incident motioned for Pitts to leave.

Pitts, a guard, is the only player to have started each game in franchise history.

The case will go to a grand jury and his next court appearance has been set for Jan. 9, according to a district court coordinator.
